Accept ATH Móvil on your website

The payment method Puerto Rico actually uses — on your own site, next to cards and PayPal.

If you sell to Puerto Rico, you already know: people pay with ATH Móvil. It is how friends split dinner and how small businesses get paid — and almost no website checkout supports it. The big platforms (Gumroad, Payhip, Squarespace, Shopify) do not offer it at all, which leaves local sellers taking payments over DM and delivering files by hand.

SurcoPay treats ATH Móvil as a first-class payment method. Your buyer picks it at checkout, approves the payment in their ATH Móvil app, and the file is delivered automatically by email — the same flow your card and PayPal buyers get.

How to set it up

  1. Get an ATH Móvil Business account (through EVERTEC / your bank) if you do not have one.
  2. In your ATH Móvil Business settings, find your API tokens.
  3. In the SurcoPay dashboard, open Settings → Payment Providers, and paste them into the ATH Móvil section.
  4. Enable ATH Móvil on your product, and it appears at checkout.

Why this matters for sales

Every payment method a buyer does not have is a reason to close the tab. A card-only checkout asks an ATH-first buyer to go find a card; an ATH-enabled one meets them where they already are. Local sellers consistently see it as the difference between "I'll do it later" and a completed sale.

Common questions

Do I need ATH Móvil Business?

Yes. Personal ATH Móvil accounts cannot receive business payments. ATH Móvil Business is offered through EVERTEC and Puerto Rico banks, and gives you the API credentials SurcoPay uses on your behalf.

What does ATH Móvil charge?

ATH Móvil Business charges its own processing rate (typically around 1.5% — confirm current rates with them). It goes to ATH Móvil, not to SurcoPay. Sales through ATH Móvil currently carry no SurcoPay fee at all.

Where does the money go?

Straight to your ATH Móvil Business account, like any other ATH payment you receive. SurcoPay never holds your money.

Can buyers outside Puerto Rico use it?

ATH Móvil is a Puerto Rico payment network, so it is for your local buyers. The same checkout also offers cards and PayPal, so buyers elsewhere pay their own way — you do not have to choose.
